Die, Stuart Little, die!

The Border terrier was bred to hunt vermin such as rats, foxes, moles. Can we get our puppy 2 days ago? Saturday evening I was watching LOST with Jas and noticed something move in the darkness of our living room. I figured I was just imagining things. After all, we had just spent the last 3+ hours watching a TV show about things not always being what they seem.

Sunday morning, I get up well before Jason to make some coffee and watch Thursday night's Grey's Anatomy. Out of the closet crawls proof that I wasn't hallucinating the night before. A mouse!

We've noticed now that our little "friend" likes to run between our closet under the stairs (where we keep our Harry Potter) and the big leather sofa on the opposite wall. Since we don't have a little vermin-hunting attack dog yet, we are discussing the following options:

Option 1: Snap or glue traps. The upside to this would be a fairly quick fix. The downside, me having to find this little mouse with his neck all broken or stiff and lifeless on a piece of glue. No thank you.

Option 2: Live traps. The upside is a little more humane solution to our problem. The downside is having to put the trap in our car and drive Miss Daisy one mile away so that it doesn't return.

Option 3: Get someone to come and lay nasty poison down. This isn't really an option right now because neither of us have the time this week to stay at home while some exterminator comes to do his business.

Gross. Can I just say that I keep an extremely, almost obsessively clean house? I guess this is what happens when you live in a city, and in a rowhome to be more precise.

Five more weeks and we'll have a 4 legged mouse hunter extraordinaire! 4 more days til we get to see the little babies again!

I'm out. Like a mouse. What?
